Amazing Poppy cottage
We stayed at Poppy cottage 1 for 3 nights, it was lovely. The cottage is very clean and furnishings are all to a high standard, the outside area is beautiful and the hot tub is undercover which is so beneficial if the weather is not great. We visited Skipton castle and town and had a lovely meal in Alexandras.We had two meals at the Bull in broughton and these were amazing. We will be booking again for next year, as this is the best cottage we have stayed in. Thank you to Sally and Nick.

Fabulous little place
This is our fourth visit to this lovely little cottage. Good quality, high standard and very comfortable. Recently redecorated which makes the place look brighter.Hot tub and log burner really great and create a relaxing break away from it all.The owners are very helpful and responded to any queries.No doubt we’ll be back in the future.

We had a lovely 3 day stay in the The GranaryCouldn't think of a better way to enjoy a totally relaxing break in superb 5* accommodation and surrounding countryside.Sally and Steve, wonderful hosts, go out of their way to meet any requests or needs you may have.One of the highlights of the stay was the hot tub,after a day of walking in the not too friendly weather (even Sally and Steve couldn't fix that for us) what better way to relax than wallowingin delicious warm water under the night sky.Couldn't think of a better place to unwind and totally relax.Would we go back - absolutely!

Amazing anniversary stay
The cottage was beautiful, we loved our stay. It had everything we needed inside and was nicely decorated and layed out. The hot tub made it extra special.

What was it like?
It was clean, warm ,welcoming ,friendly run by a couple who know what there doing ,never intrusive but always there if you need them,we have been before and will be back in the new year, I think that says it all really.

Simply ideal.
Having been given the details for Poppy cottage from some very close friends, we were very certain it would be a pleasant stay, however, it still managed to exceed expectations! It is no surprise at all that it has 5 star reviews as it simply has to be seen and tried to be appreciated. I won’t go into details as everything is contained in other reviews, I simply advise that if you are wishing to visit this area of Yorkshire then you will not regret the decision to stay here.

We can’t stop returning here, Poppy No 1 is absolutely spotless with everything you need to cook your own meals or you can pop to The Swan Inn if you can’t be bothered cooking.The hot tub is fab and much needed after hiking the Dales.Perfect location for walks - you can never run out of different ones.Went toSkipton Castle this time - well worth a visit!Doesn’t matter what the weather is like here, it’s always spectacular.

Another visit to The Granary at Poppy Cottage and excellent again. I could end the review here as that just about says it all. However for anybody who has not been before I would explain that The Granary is just like a home from home. Sally and Steve have made sure that you have whatever you need and prepare the place to a spotlessly high standard.The Granary is so good that we could quite easily have stayed for another week if we were not moving on. It is a shame that this survey only goes to five stars as I could quite easily double itWe will certainly be back.

Highly recommend this cottage
Just had a three night stay at Poppy Cottage, it was wonderful, the cottage has everything you need to make your stay easy, lovely large bedroom open plan lounge, diner and kitchen with everything at hand, large comfortable sofa’s to relax on. Gorgeous outside space with hot tub and sitting area and if it’s chilly you can sit in the conservatory. The cottage was so clean and comfortable, we received a welcome message and phone numbers to call if we needed anything. The cottage is also in a beautiful setting with easy access to roads in which you can explore the area. I would highly recommend this cottage and would love to go back and stay again.

A lovely stay!
Thankyou for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage! It's not often I find a holiday cottage with everything exactly as I like but can honestly say there is nothing I would have changed! The hot tub was lovely after a day out walking and I felt so comfortable on our stay. Hope to return as was very sad to leave and such a nice part of the UK.

The perfect way to celebrate Nicks 40th. Should have been in Rome and booked last minute but were not disappointed.A beautiful well maintained cottage.Hot tub in the snow was the tip of the iceberg! Fantastic host and the little touches made it special.We'll be back.

Amazing stay couldn\'t ask for better!
My boyfriend booked the weekend away as a birthday treat for me, and what a treat it was! Poppy Cottage no1 was beautiful in every way and absolutely everything had been thought of down to the last detail we literally wanted for nothing. The hot tub was a god send especially seen as the weather wasn't great it was so relaxing just to sit in there listening to the drizzle as weird as that sounds. The weekend was made one to remember by my boyfriend proposing on the Saturday night in the cottage I couldnt think of a better place to pop the question!! We will definitely be back thank you so so much x

Absolutely brilliant
We stayed at the Granary building at Poppy Cottages, and it was pretty much flawless. Its location was nice (the quiet friendly village of Carleton, only a stone's throw from Skipton with many nice walks within short driving distance).The granary itself was beautiful, with a comfy bed, a lovely hot tub, a nice shower and a nice big tv to crash in front of after a long walk.I Would 100% recommend Poppy Cottages. I hope to return somewhere down the line.Thank you to the lovely couple who own the place for making our stay so memorable.

HOME FROM HOME
This was our first trip to Yorkshire and boy, we werent disappointed! Firstly Sally and Steve promised our some Yorkshire October sun - and they delivered!They had informed us that some of the "extras" had to be taken out of the cottage due to Covid but you would never had guessed. It contained everything that you could possibly need for your stay even down to a bag of ice cubes in the freezer, perfect to have with my York gin and tonic!)The bedding and linen was spotless and of top quality. Everything in the cottage had been finished to a very high standard. Plenty of fuel provided for the wood burner and hot tub was used daily after long walks through the moors and dales.I defy anyone to find anything wrong with this cottage.

Relaxing getaway
This is our third visit to the cottage and it will not be our last. The cottage is so peaceful and has everything one needs for a tranquil stay. The cottage is cleaned to a high standard and is well equipped. The hot tub is so perfect for soaking up all that peace. The whole setting is wonderful.Communication with Sally and Steve was prompt and the information they provide is always so clear. We cannot recommend the cottage enough and already thinking about our next visit.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions,never want to leave and can't wait to return, love it.Th owners,Sally and Steve live on site and are always available, nothing is too much trouble.The cottage has its own parking place, and is in a lovely Dales village, with a shop and pubThe property is immaculate and has everything you need. One large bedroom with great views.Lovely bathroom with jacuzzi. A log burner in the lounge, and a hot tub in the lovely garden. A short drive or bus into Skipton. A perfect country cottage
Excellent, quiet rural location close to Skipton and a pub and general shop within walking distance that were perfect for our needs. Beautifully furnished and cosy cottage which had everything we needed.Hosts were lovely and available should we have had any queries - we had none except availability next year.

Lovely relaxing break for two!
What a wonderful break we had! Poppy Cottage No. 1 was everything we'd hoped and more!Everything had been thought of and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was a great size for two, with the windows looking out onto the surrounding landscape. The cottage was easy to find, everything was as you'd expect and the hot tub was private and a good size.The cottage is in a perfect location to explore the local area and the walk into Skipton was pleasant and easy to do.Recommend the Sunday Lunch at the Swan Inn, Mastabs curryhouse and Calico Jack's wooden platter for 2 would definitely fill even the hungriest of people!Would 100% recommend this cottage and will be back as soon as we can!

Beautiful cottage
From the moment we walked in, this place is superb. Lovelyquite location yet only half an hourstroll into Skipton. Kitchen has everything you need and the pots, pans etc are of very good quality. Living room is large and very comfortable. Loved walking in the huge, comfy bed, to pull the blind up and watch the cows, sheep and birds on the hill behind the cottage. Very handy location for many many villages and walks in the Dales. Woudnt hesitate to return.

Wow! One of the nicest places we've ever stayed at. The kitchen was better equipped than my own, beautifully decorated and furnished, spotlessly clean. Excellent location. Loved everything about it so much that we booked again for next year before we left.

Poppy Cottage 2, was a delightful cottage, which was immaculately clean, and very nicely decorated. Love Poppy Cottages
This is the second time I’ve stayed at Poppy Cottages, Poppy Cottage No 1 the first time and now The Granary - I can’t make up my mind which one I like the best - so already booked No 1 again for next year to check!! There is so much attention to detail, everything you could need on holiday is provided, sofas and beds are so comfortable,scrupulously clean and of course the hot tub is a godsend after hiking around the most gorgeous Yorkshire Dales! The private gardens and patio areas are fabulous and of course the open countryside views from them including sheep and cows.Steve and Sally are lovely hosts very welcoming, even the chickens at the top of the garden came to say hello!We can not recommend Poppy Cottages highly enough.

No2 Poppy Cottage July 2020
The cottage was immaculate, comfortable, cosy and very clean. It was a lovely touch in the master bedroom to have a kettle and teapot for a morning cuppa. The owners are very friendly and helpful.The village is quiet but has good amenities such as a well stocked shop and there is a pub where we had a delicious meal. We would certainly like to return.

The Granary July 2020
This was our second stay in this beautiful accommodation. It is comfortable, well kept and very clean with hand gel always available. This time the owners have installed a hot tub and redesigned the garden so that there are two patio areas where you can catch the sun. The garden is so pretty with views of the hill behind. The owners are very friendly and helpful providing a stool for my use in the bathroom. We should definitely like to return as it is such a beautiful cottage from which to explore the North Yorkshire countryside.

Stunning cottage and village.
We loved our stay at Poppy Cottage 1. Everything was perfect. The hot tub was a added luxury along with the log fire. We’ve been to Skipton many times over the years but never to stay. It was lovely to eat out and have a few drinks. We had lunch at The Swan which was lovely. We hope to return in the future.

Lovely Comfortable Cottage
Booked for our daughter and son in law after we had previously enjoyed a stay. They loved the cottage and hot tub. Thoroughly enjoyed this quiet retreat, very private but a great location for touring round the dales. They loved all the little touches and wanted for nothing and the hot tub was a bonus.

5 star cottage in a perfect location
Had a lovely relaxing time the cottage and the attention to detail within are fab, walked into Skipton lovely market town, also visited the canal and completed the Castle Woods walk. The hot tub soothed are legs and feet after our long walks, we enjoyed a game of scrabble provided in the cottage something we would never find the time to do at home. Thank you both for letting us share Poppy no 1 cottage we will be back, the weather was kind to us too

Relaxing and romantic retreat
We have just had an amazing 4 nights winter break at this beautifully styled, cosy cottage. Sparkling clean with lots of thoughtful touches and extremely well equipped with everything needed for a reviving getaway. We have lots of experience with holiday rental accommodation and Poppy Cottage was definitely our number 1. Perfectly located for exploring The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes. The fabulous hot tub was checked and maintained daily and was much appreciated after muddy,windy moorland hikes. The jacuzzi spa bath with coloured lights also great for achy legs and the wood burner was so cosy. We enjoyed Skipton Castle and a shopping trip to Boundary Mills and lunch at The Bull in Broughton. The Swan is a lovely friendly local pub with good home cooked food at reasonable prices (we ate there 3 times...it’s so handy) and the local shop has everything you need.Thank you Sally and Steve please don’t change a thing.... we were sad to leave and can’t wait to stay again.

Wonderful weekend just outside Skipton
We had an amazing time at this lovely, cosy cottage. The pictures on the web don't do it justice, it's so beautifully furnished and well equipped. The owners were easy to contact, but not at all intrusive. We loved it so much we didn't want to leave and we are already planning our next stay! I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful, private getaway with the added luxury of a hot tub, absolute bliss! And only five minutes drive into Skipton too. Brilliant.An Oasis of tranquility.
We as a family of 10 stayed in Cottages 1, 2 & the Granary between Christmas and the New Year.The facilities are second to none.Each of the cottages are equipped and presented extremely tastefully. The area has many delightful walks within easy reach.Couldn't think of a better place to wind down after the total indulgence of festive fayre and hectic socialising that comes with Christmas. The hot tub was particularly welcoming after long walks, and as you can imagine was one of the highlights of our stay by the 4 younger members of our family.Sally and Steve are superb 'hosts' and nothing is too much trouble, they will do their utmost to help if needed.We have no hesitation in recommending this excellent accommodation and are looking forward to our next visit.

60 TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
A very lovely stay for a special birthday and family celebration. We were a group of 7 adults and we were comfortably settled in Poppy Cottages 1 and 2. the accommodation was very comfortable and homely. Brilliant cottage!
We absolutely loved Poppy Cottage number 1! It was beautiful finished and furnished, the kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of space for the two of us. The hot tub was great, and there was a lovely view out one of the bedroom windows. Carleton is a great location—nice, quiet village, but very easy access into Skipton and the whole Yorkshire Dales. We would highly recommend it to anyone!

We have stayed at Poppy Cottage several times before, but this is our first visit since in was transformed into self catering cottages and our first time in the Granary.As my title says,,, everything was as excellent as before. I don’t think that Sally and Steve have missed anything as the Granary is everything you want and need for a great stay.The Granary is spotless and nothing has been missed in stocking it for a great holiday. Even the small things like tea bags, sugar, milk and cereals to start you off have been thought of so you can just move in and settle down to your holiday.Needless to say that we will be back.

Amazingly perfect in every way and spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need and more. We loved the interior decoration, garden, log burner, hot tub and the location. We had a lovely, relaxing stay at poppy cottage number 1 for 2 nights. Gorgeousness
This was our 2nd visit to the gorgeous Poppy Cottage No 1 and once again we had a fabulous stay.The cottage is very well finished and out and equipped with everything you could need (well maybe a docking station for music). The owners are lovely and leave you to enjoy the cottage but if needed nothing is too much trouble.The hot tub is well done with robes and separate towels and is a very peaceful way to end the day!Poppy Cottage is very much becoming our favourite hideaway and we can’t wait to come again.

Just returned from our recent stay at Cottage No.1 which was faultless.Everything had been thought of to enable us to have a most brilliant stay. Decorated to a high standard but still cosy and comfortable.The hot tub was amazing and the Jacuzzi bath was also a lovely addition.I have to say that this was one of the best cottages we have stayed in and would not hesitate to return again.

We stayed on Poppy Cottage No2 for a long weekend and the well appointed accommodation helped to make it a very relaxing and enjoyable mini break.The accommodation was very well equipped and lacked nothing. Excellent location to exploring the area.We would certainly be using Poppy Cottages again when returning to the area.

First Class
Our company enjoyed our second stay at Poppy Cottages in September 2018. Cottage 2 is well appointed, very clean and homely in the best possible way. We really appreciated all the little things that had been thought of, from a jug of milk in the fridge on arrival to the provision of a hairdryer, bottle opener and small toiletries. Small things but they make all the difference! We will definitely book again.

We stayed at Poppy Cottage number 1 for a week in March. It is quite simply perfect!! A beautiful cottage, well equipped and ideally located. It has a log burner which kept us lovely and warm in the snow, and an equally gorgeous hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. I can’t recommend highly enough, we simply loved it.

Had a amazing relaxing holiday in Poppy 1. What a lovely cottage with everything you need hosts were awesome loved it so much we stayed longer. Hot tub is private and the area is peaceful and close enough to Skipton for a quick trip to the market. Hope to go back again soon. Highly recommend to everyone.

Fabulous weekend away in lovely cottage
Spent 3 nights celebrating our wedding anniversary. Poppy Cottage was very comfortable and welcoming. Great location in village close to Skipton. The hot tub was a nice extra and great for resting tired feet after days out around the area. Loads of room for 2 and all amenities for self catering. Nice touch of cereals and milk in the fridge lefts for breakfasts. Can highly recommend it to others wanting a break in this part of North Yorkshire.

We had a lovely stay, the room was great with everything we needed and breakfast was delicious with so much on offer. Our hosts were kind, helpful and very accommodating. Set in beautiful surroundings I would absolutely recommend Poppy Cottage to anyone visiting the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at Poppy Cottage. As a vegetarian my wife's were met with a delicious cooked breakfast each morning - I really enjoyed the home reared bacon too needs. The view from our room window was lovely and the chickens added an extra delight to our stay. Steve and Sally made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We were shown a cosy guest sitting room and breakfast room and offered a cup of tea. Our room was lovely, with a big comfy bed, hot shower and views out to the garden. The garden was perfect to relax in at the end of the day; filled with pretty flowers and great views across the landscape. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend Poppy Cottage if you want a relaxing stay in a beautiful location with generous hosts who clearly care about what they do.

It was my wife who choose Poppy Cottage for our short break, and like many when you are on the way there, it does cross you mind what the quality of the accommodation going to be .On arriving at Poppy Cottage we received a really warm welcome, we were given what we felt like was av.i.ptour of the cottage and the grounds. The room which looked out on to the rear of the cottage, was immaculately clean.. Clean bedding, and the room was bright and cheerful. We had a room with an en-suite shower room, equally as clean as the bedroom.. an a easy to operate shower.If you have forgotten your hair dryer or shower cap– don’t worry.. The rooms have had a lot of thought put in to them. Fresh towels, hair dryer, shower cap, bath robes, T.V and a wardrobe (with coat hangers) with more than enough space for all you clothes.Choice of coffee and teas and some biscuits in the room and not forgetting the kettle. There was not a fridge in the room, but you had the use of the fridge in the dining room, which we found no problem with.There is a ground floor lounge which we could use, which was ideal if you wanted to sit and chill for a whileor read. Where we were offereda hot drink of our choice and not forgetting the biscuits, which we accepted– which was more than welcoming after our long journey.From the lounge you access the rear garden and decking area – the weather was warm and this would have been a idealplace to sit and take in the sun – But unfortunately we so busy running around shopping we did not get to make use of.The dining room is lovely, as clean as the other rooms. AND THE BRECKFAST ..But seems I may have forgotten to mention that this lovely couple have chickens in the back garden .. eggs straight from the chicken to your plate.. I am not normally a Breakfast person, but I must admit, that there was a great difference inhaving such fresh eggs.Poppy Cottage is equal to a five star HOTEL .. We could not find fault during our stay .

Beautiful & Peaceful!
This is such a friendly B&B, like a home away from home.From the second we arrived (which unfortunately was 3hrs after we had advised them) they were soooo accomodating and welcoming despite our late arrival.The most comfy bed i can remember sleeping in and the prettiest views over the gardens, and on to the hills.I would deifnitely come back and stay here :)

I have reviewed Poppy Cottage on Trip Advisor and will only repeat that our stay could not have been better. Steve and Sally are great hosts seeing to all your needs but completely unobtrusive.The rooms are spotless and the breakfasts are excellent and filling. The best part however is the fact that you are living in a completely separate cottage, albeit that it is attached to Ivy Cottage where the family live,and you have a dining room, guest lounge and garden just for guests. Excellent.We cannot fault Poppy Cottage and will definitely return when next in the area.

Excellent B & B
We loved this B & B just outside Skiptonn , where we recently stayed for 3 nights.Our room was very comfortable and quiet and, in addition, we had the use of a little sitting room and lovely sunny decking area.We were even able to get a take-away from the local pub and use the dining area to eat.Our hosts were so friendly, extremely helpful with suggesting walks etc and served us a fantastic breakfast each morning, with so many options.The location of Poppy Cottage is great - a few minutes drive into Skipton or a 20 minute walk across fields, near to a reasonable pub and giving easy access to wonderful walking country in the Dales.We would definitely recommend it to friends and hope to return ourselves!

We spent 3 nights at Poppy Cottage finding the accommodation excellent,we stayed in the Sunflower Room which was very clean with a lovely ensuite . The room overlooked the garden where Sally and Steve kept Pigs and Hens. Breakfast was very good,lots of choice. Sally and Steve made you very welcome. The Cottage is situated in a small village a short distance to pub and newsagents. We would certainly go and stay there again 5

What a perfect stay we had from the first moment's warm welcome, including coffee and biscuits in the sunny garden, through to the final breakfast! Beautifully decorated throughout, immaculately clean, as well as wonderful little touches like the exquisite toiletries and miniature hot water bottles (which we didn't need in our unexpected summer weather!) Steve and Sally are delightful and we came away feeling refreshed, recharged and extremely satisfied by our excellent breakfast, as well as being well and truly looked after. We were en-route, so only booked the one night, but were well pleased to have found such a clean, comfortable, welcoming place with such good facilities to 'bed and breakfast'! Steve and Sally were charming and pointed us in the right direction towards the local pub which serves fabulous steaks - well worth a visit in its own right.Altogether, a faultless stop - and we'll stay longer next time.

Delightful
Poppy Cottage Guest House certainly lived up to our expectations.We were really looking forward to staying here and we weren't disappointed.Our room was charming with views out over the little farm; it was spotlessly clean, and everything was provided to make us feel right at home.There was a very comfortable lounge to relax in if we needed to, and the dining room created a lovely environment in which to enjoy one of the most delicious breakfasts (cooked by Steve), that we had on our entire trip.We have no hesitation in recommending Poppy Cottage.

Perfect Poppies
Very friendly welcome with tea and biscuits; beautiful room with splendid shower and all the necessary additions; great view of the hens and pigs; very satisfying locally sourced breakfast with lots of choice.Poppy Cottage is in a great location with easy access to Skipton and further afield.We recommend it absolutely.

Best guest house
Just returned following our third visit to Poppy Cottage. This is the best gust house we have stayed in. Accommodation is terrific-clean and private in beautiful setting. Steve and Sally are great hosts -always friendly and helpful and the food is perfect. If we were running a guest house this is what we would want it to be like.

A little piece of Heaven
Superb B & B and Sally and Steve were excellent hosts. The breakfasts were plentiful and I really enjoyed their free range eggs. The accommodation was superb and very tastefully and sympathetically furnished.Steve and Sally have retained as many existing features as possible and I love their fireplace in the Sunflower Room.Little touches like providing guests with bath robes, tea and biscuit facilities in the bedrooms and a personal Easter cardhelped make our stay very special. The fridge in the dining room, available to all guests, and free details of local walks were much appreciated. Sally and Steve have photographed their building work, showing the development of Poppy Cottage into the beautiful guesthouse it is now. Can't speak too highly of both Poppy Cottage or Steve and Sally and we look forward to returning again.Thank you for having us.
